Dear Parents and Community Members,
I thank you once again with all of my heart for the privilege of serving as the principal of Hunley Park Elementary! This year my own son is attending HPE in a kindergarten class. My pledge to you is to look out for your child in every way as I would for my own.
This has been a very busy year from the onset. Our MAP testing is almost complete. This is the testing for grades 1-5 that gives us very detailed information regarding each child’s ability in reading, language, and math. We will use this information for the detailed planning on how to meet each and every child’s academic needs. We will analyze this data school-wide, by grade level, by teacher and by individual child. We are committed to providing your child the best educational experience possible.
With the knowledge that we already have and the information that we get from MAP, we are planning to take our students through a series of goal setting activities which will serve as the driving force for our teaching and the students’ learning. Teachers will use the data to design detailed, specific lessons where all students are given the best opportunity to succeed. Students will also attend brief , leveled classes during the day where they are taught reading and math in the exact areas in which they have difficulties. This strategy will allow a specific amount of time for our students to work on their areas where they need the most support.
